Sharing Our Shame... (Connie J...)
October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.
"...it's important to understand that if we share our story with someone who responds with empathy and understanding, shame can't survive. Self-compassion is also critically important, but because shame is a social concept - it happens between people - it also heals best between people." (Brené Brown - DARE TO LEAD - pg 136)
Specifically speaking to those involved in a Domestic Violence situation - do you feel ashamed for getting so deeply taken in by your partner?
We're all created for relationship; but there are those unscrupulous ones among us, that abuse everything good about a relationship, and turn it around to only benefit THEM!!!
Do you know, that by sharing your story with others, you just may encourage them to change the situation they are in; and, in the process, take yourself forward in establishing a deeper relationship with yourself?
I LOVE a good two-fer!!!
Think about all the strength that you have shown, just to survive this far. Do you realize how strong you are??!
I'll leave this lay here, for you to think about, as we spread Domestic Violence Awareness throughout the next month, in particular.
Have a good day, and be safe... #ENDtheSILENCEofVIOLENCE #EtSoV
