#NOMORE Is 'Thankful' Really the Word For How You're Feeling??!... (Connie J)
So...Thanksgiving 2016 is now a memory. Is it a good one or bad one, or did it just go by as another day? As you were eating your Thanksgiving gnosh, did you take the time to be thankful for those around you? Are you thankful for those around you? Is your life as great as you tried to portray on this sometimes high-pressure Holiday? Did the smile you pasted on your face, that doesn't quite reach your eyes, fool everyone? Do you feel like you're living a lie 24/7? Did your children jump every time anyone yelled "Happy Thanksgiving", or tried to give them a hug? Did you?
These questions could cover a multitude of things, but this is every day life for Victims of Domestic Violence, and their children. Holidays cause even more stress, because they never know when that next explosion will happen. Will they be yelled at, for what seems like no reason; or even worse?
Remember, the Holiday season can bring out the "best" (sometimes not) in many people. Whatever pain they're feeling gets multiplied, and passed on to unsuspecting passersby; though in a Domestic Violence situation, it's not so unexpected - it's a matter of when, not if.
Did you observe any of this at a gathering you attended; or do you know somone living like this? A possible #NOMORE, could be to see if you could contact this person, safely, and see if you can help. Your asking would at least be throwing them a line. Sometimes, they get so overwhelmed and feel so stuck, that they have no idea what to do.
Remember, no one DESERVES to be abused...
Have a good day, and be safe... #NOMORE #KNOWMORE
